RICHARD W. MOULTON VOLUNTEER AWARD 2008
RECIPIENT: MEREDITH BULLOCK
The Halifax Regional Cerebral Palsy Association received a nice surprise in June of this year. We received a meaningful donation from a thoughtful and selfless young lady. She decided for her 8th birthday, which she celebrated on June 14, 2008, that in lieu of gifts she would like donations for the Cerebral Palsy Association. Her party theme was “Calling All Mad Scientists”. Her invitation read: Come Enjoy an hour of Mad Science followed by a walk through the neighbourhood in support of the Cerebral Palsy Association. On her walk she collected donations for this Association
She is now 8-and-a-half years old. She was born with cerebral palsy as a result of birth asphyxia, and has developed epilepsy in the last 2 years. Despite this, she has a positive outlook and allows very little to get in the way of her dreams. Some of the
things she enjoys are:
- piano lessons
- Brownies
- dance lessons
- children's choir
- her little sister Helen (3) -- well . . . most of the time!
- her big cousins, Laura (10) and Claire (12)
- writing poetry and fiction (she wrote a book over the summer called
*S.O.S. Marla Jane,* and has just started the sequel). Maybe we will get a chance to read her book if she has one available.
What would she like to try next? Karate!
Some day, she would like to be a scientist and work in her own lab, like her grandfather.
Without further ado, Carol von Syberg, donor of the Award, will present
the Richard W. Moulton Volunteer of the Year Award for 2008 to Meredith Bullock. Meredith, please come forward.
